The Menu Bar Menu
PanoPaper lives in the menu bar. Click its icon for the menu; everything you do every day is in it.
What's in the menu
- 'About PanoPaper' - the version and edition, and a link to the website.
- 'Check for Updates…' (Web Edition) - checks for a new version now. While one is waiting, it reads 'Update to version…'. See Updates.
- 'Settings…' ⌘, - the Settings window.
- Camera - the camera the display shows. With several displays there is one of these per display, named after it. See below.
- 'Pause Wallpaper' - see Pausing.
- The volume slider and 'Mute Sound' - the camera's sound. 'Mute Sound' shows your mute shortcut, if you set one. See Camera Sound.
- 'PanoPaper Help' ⌘? - this help.
- 'Quit PanoPaper' ⌘Q - quits; your normal wallpaper comes back.
Choosing a camera
A camera menu starts with None - your normal wallpaper - and then lists each NVR's cameras under its name, NVRs in alphabetical order, cameras in the order you gave them in Settings ▸ NVRs. A checkmark marks the camera showing now. Offline cameras are greyed out.
The first nine cameras show a number, 1 to 9: on a clear desktop, pressing that number switches to the camera - see Desktop Keys.
Instead of cameras, an NVR's section may say Signing in…, Not signed in or No cameras; with no NVR at all, the menu says No NVRs - add one in Settings.
In the Web Edition, a camera you choose is for the Space you are looking at; other Spaces keep theirs. See Choosing Cameras.
Pausing
'Pause Wallpaper' brings back your normal wallpaper on every display and stops all video, without forgetting your cameras. While it is paused, the menu item has a checkmark and the menu bar icon is dimmed. Choose it again to bring the video back. PanoPaper stays paused after you quit and open it again.
What the icon shows
- Dimmed - the wallpaper is paused.
- Sound waves on both sides - you are hearing a camera. The more waves are solid, the louder it plays.
- A red dot (Web Edition) - a new version of PanoPaper is ready. Open the menu and choose 'Update to version…'.
To move the icon to another place in the menu bar, hold ⌘ and drag it. PanoPaper remembers where you put it.
